Finally the end

As we head to the UK for Xmas with the family, we face the harsh reality that the Great Expedition has finally come to an end. Many unforgettable, great times, with many laughs along the way. Indeed, a life-changing experience.
Thanks for visiting this blog, it has been fun putting it together! Have a wonderful Xmas and New Year, wherever you are are. We hope to see you all before too long.

The Galapagos Islands - The Giants

On our last morning we were whisked to the research station where they keep George and many other species, George was special, he is the last of his species, and for the past 25 years they have tried fruitlessley to get him to mate with another species, it finally happened, and there are 2 eggs that are better guarded than faberges!

The Galapagos Islands - Continued

A landing on pure lava was fascinating as well as HOT! Different textures had us in awe, also to see the flow of this lava, which happened only 100 years ago! To see some green in between was a welcome surprise, but I think we were all very happy to have finished an hour and a half on what is reckoned to be 40km long! and could happen again at any time.

The Galapagos Islands - The final leg

From the Deep South to the Equator, we travel on. After landing and boarding the boat, we spent many hours getting up close to the fearless mammals, reptiles and birds that are unique to each of these extraordinary islands. We all learnt a bit more about Darwin and the Origin of the Species. We snorkelled amongst sharks, rays, sea lions and of course, tropical fish.
